Arley Village
The Old Barn
You may not have had chance to visit The Barn in Old Arley recently, but it has undergone something of a transformation. After years of planning, hard work, setbacks and yes, a few tears, it is fantastic to see it looking so good and being used for the benefit of the community.
Lots of people have helped with this project and funding has come from several sources but we would like to particularly thank ARLEY PARISH COUNCIL in this edition of Arley News. With their support we were able to carpet the main room and they also provided a warming oven for the kitchen. This has already proved useful at The Community Dining Club; not only are the plates and dishes warmed ready for serving, but we are also able to keep the food piping hot.
If you would like to see The Barn, it is open each Saturday during British Summertime from 10am until 2pm and refreshments are available.
The Community Dining Club is on the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 5.30pm. It costs £5 for a two course meal, with a choice of puddings. Most people then stay on for a social time, including Bingo.
Several other groups also use the Barn for their meetings and it is becoming a popular venue for parties. It is such a pleasure to see this lovely old building made sound and back in use, hopefully for many generations to come.
